I have the worst case of stagefright ever. Putting on plays isn't too bad, but when I have to get up in front ur a class and present something, it's awful for me. I get really nervous even a couple weeks before I have to present it, and then when the time comes, I freak out even more!

I get all the symptoms of it. Stomachache, face turns red, I get all shaky, and my voice is even more shaky! :/ Even other people notice how nervous I am.

I want to be a good public speaker, but I just don't know how to overcome my fear of speaking in front of other people...how can you fix this? Any advice? PLEASE HELP!!

Stage fright isn't really something you lose, just manage. It comes because you care about giving a good performance. As long as you care about performing well, you will always get nervous. It's just how you manage that nervousness. The best way to ward of stage fright is to practice. Practice speaking whenever you get a chance. In front of a small group of friends, your family, some neighbors, etc. Freaking out and thinking about it excessively will just stir things up and make you more nervous.

Learn some deep breathing exercises to help you steady your voice. Video tape yourself and watch for nervous ticks and habits like playing with your clothes, wringing your hands, and shifting your weight. I find that the more prepared I am, the less nervous I tend to be. Over learn your lines, memorize your presentation, and then tell yourself that there's no reason to be nervous because you are prepared. And just gain experience whenever you can. The more experience you get, the easier it will seem.
