I love drawing and telling stories. I love reading comic books and want to pursue the dream of becoming a comic book artist. Where do I start? There's no comic book schools, just how to draw cartoon short courses. Where do I begin?

Actually there is a comic book school. Its called the Kubert School and its in new jersey. they often take trips to dc or marvel and get to show their work to editors there.

A comics artist is a person working within the comics medium on comic strips, comic books or graphic novels. The term may refer to any number of artists who contribute to produce a work in the comics form, from those who oversee all aspects of the work to those who contribute only a part.
Within the comic strip format, it is typical for one creator to produce the whole strip. However, it is also not uncommon for the writing of the strip and the drawing of the art to be carried out by two different people, a writer and an artist (with or without additional assistant artists). In some cases, one artist might draw key figures while another does only backgrounds. To know more info

Draw. If possible get an associates in a fine arts degree -- drawing and or painting. Try to get published in anything. If you can get work study graphics work do. If you can get a job at an arts weekly doing production -- gold. Go to conventions. Show your work there. That's where most editors look at portfolios.

If you want to be a drawing professor at the university degree, you need to get your masters of best artwork, which is a graduate application that comes after you get your bachelors, to work in each those fields i might say you will have to be an art primary with an illustration attention. Most artwork departments could have advisers that can steer you in the right course.

Take some of your drawings to a publisher to let them see the quality of your work...
