Gimp 2.6 Layering window?

Question

so i recently downloaded the Gimp 2.6 drawing program onto my windows 8 and i can't see where my layers are! i've watched videos and they all have these windows showing the different layers but mine doesn't have that :/ so how can i view them?

GIMP 2.6 is outdated.



Get GIMP 2.8.10 instead - here: http://www.gimp.org - it's free!!!



In any version of GIMP click Edit > Preferences > Window Managements > Reset Saved Window Positions to Default Values.



That'll bring back your layers dock.



In GIMP 2.8.10 click Windows > Single Window Mode > that'll stop you from accidentally closing the layers dialog in future.
