Question:
Do wide format printers print on Bristol paper?

I thought about getting an all in one wide format photo printer. After searching I thought it would be better/easier to get a portable photo printer and then an Officejet wide format all in one. I'm trying to get my drawings into my computer (9 x 12 or 11 x 14"), but I'm using Bristol board. Will printers print on something so thick?

Do not get a wide format all-in-one. You are going to be paying for something that is intended for general use and office use, not fine art or photo printing. Also, the all in one you are considering cannot scan large format items, it is limited to 8 1/2 by 14 (legal size). Instead, look at something like one of the Epson wide format printers, such as the R1900, or the Canon Pro9000 Mark II or Pro 9500. Both of these brands can take specialty art papers for use in inkjet printers. You probably can't print on something quite as thick as Bristol board, and you wouldn't want to because Bristol board is not designed for inkjet inks; you would probably be unhappy with the results. But there are lots of very interesting art papers designed for inkjet printers.

As for getting your drawings onto your computer, you are going to have to have them scanned, or take very good digital photographs of them. There are places that offer such services. You will pay for this service, but on the other hand, you will get good quality digital images that you can use as needed, and also edit if you wish.
