Drawing Anime Art With Pencils? Tips?

Question

Well, this may seem silly but I would like some tips on drawing with pencils. Since I usually draw with pens, traditional inks and markers (without drawing a rough draft in pencil first) I really have no idea how to use them to get smooth clean lines, and strong, good shading. I understand that most of this is just practice but are there any tips I can get to start out?

If it helps, I have HB, 4H, H, B and 6B pencils.

start with proportions, google or deviantart should help in that.

all drawings start with simple lines, if you started with the actual drawing you'll just be copying from references, and you'll miss the fun part of anime, that you can draw your own character and do whatever you want with it.
