My mother learned a handwriting in as a child in a method called "Palmer" which is a beautiful flowing circular script that is almost unreadable.
In her forties she bought a book on italic handwriting by Alfred Fairbanks. With practice every day, she adopted a pretty and very readable script in one summer.
It is more than just copying letter and having a good pen. You must learn how to move. It would be like learning to walk all over again, but it's worth the effort.
