A designer certainly CAN use these, but someone who is full time committed to the field will use the tools designed for professionals. Flash is one of those in my "toolbox," along with Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Streamline, After Effects, Director and others.

I much prefer using Microsoft Word and Excell rather than the Microsoft Office apps. I have to confess that I am used to these and am comfortable with them.

I also have to confess that I am not a big fan of using layout templates. The problem with templates is that they are so generic. Spaces are created for the user to fill with whatever. I had a design teacher who called these, "Disco" designs. Such as in "Dis go dere and dis go dere and dat go over dere." Not much more creativity than occurs with paint by numbers kits.

I like to assure my clients that everything I create for them is created particulary FOR them. Every square inch of "real estate" is custom created to serve the client's specific needs.
