How do i make a transparent background on Corel Painter 11?

I have Corel Painter 11, and I'm trying to figure out how to make a transparent background, so if i post a picture somewhere, there wont be the white canvas around it. How can I make the background transparent?

The only way I know is to turn the canvas layer "off," so that you are showing a transparent background, and then saving as a .png

in Photoshop, you just erase what you want to remove but there shouldn't be a layer below it.

in Photoshop, you can save as a layered TIFF, maintaining your transparent parts
