I like to use Sharpie to doodle in fashion magazine. I draw on the outfits to make them seem more unique. I design them to add my personal style and make the outfits something I would love to wear. Like for instance jeans. If the magazine has a picture of jeans, I will personalize it with bright colors to add a little bit of my own personal touch. That is how I uncap my creativity with Sharpie markers.

I have done several murals with Sharpies and once ornately decorated every outgoing box for a friend we were moving. The media does not inspire, not really. It is just a means to an end, a highly colorful one usually. But I can cause a lot of damage with just a black Sharpie. If the dye doesn't take on the surface, use a rock.

I can't believe Yahoo Answers has sold out by having corporations ask questions here that are obviously intended to be advertisements. What the what?!? (I love Sharpie markers though, but not too much for art, because the colors are not stable over long-term - I use Pygma Micron pens for art and permanence)

To uncap your creativity with sharpie markers, you must first open the marker by pulling off the lid, then grab a J and go out to your car to smoke that thing. Once high, your creativity is flowing very very well.

the images stay better with Sharpies than they do with normal fabric markers. My canvas slip ons have to endure a lot, like walking through puddles and mud sometimes because it's just unavoidable and the Sharpies stay on. Plus they come in a lot of colors, I've doodled so many things on my shoes, and the come out looking really well done. It's even gotten to the point where I'm selling them to people at my school because they've seen me wearing mine. It's great because they're practical and go with everything and I'm getting business from it.

To be come organized I always use sharpies to write little reminders on my hand. To study for my test I say for example.... A=b*h. This way I look at my hand all day and I remember. I also use my sharpie to write on my notebooks,pencils and books. Another thing I do is I use it to write on my violin case to show it is mine. I also put them in my locker. I draw with them and use them for poster board. I also made a college of sharpie markers and won a art contest. I also wrote about Sharpies for a social studies project. I hope you think this is creative. I think it is creatve because I am unique. (and creative!!!)

The sharpies aren't the source of creativity. Though, I've used them to decorate everything from shoes, to shirts, to even walls. I want to someday decorate an entire room (large or small) with sharpies. No wallpaper, or paint.

How do you find inspiration with markers? The same way you find it for anything else. It's different for everyone. It could be a picture, or a song (which is most likely the case for my own art), or even a book.

This year, I asked for sharpies for Christmas. Is that weird?

I've always like Sharpies LOL I have always wanted to take a bunch of colors and draw a huge abstract drawing on a wall for the span of the wall in a huge room to make it a center piece. I think it would be SO cool!

i always just start off doodling on a piece of card paper or something, and then i'll see some shape i drew that inspires me to make a drawing out of it. Usually. Then sometimes i decide to really make a masterpiece using my sharpies, but it's always on card paper because it goes perfect with sharpie.

I do also use sharpies to decorate my notebooks and my binders, and i've used it to draw on my white DC's.

I've used sharpies for paintjob touchups on my sculpey models and those kick blank figures they sell on rotofugi.

There's nothing i don't love about sharpies. I love the smell, even.

I have a huge set of sharpie markers and in most cases just being in proximity of the pens will set my creativity in ,motion, I enjoy doodling just masses of colorful images, that finally end in a conglomerate of one huge picture. I like to draw on things you normally wouldn't, I have went as far as tatooing my guitars with sharpies. I love my Sharpies! If your interested here is my most recent mess.

skills anywhere I want. I'm not limited to just paper anymore; I can draw on my notebooks and binders, decorate my own pencils, and monogram anything and everything! My family always keeps a Sharpie handy in the kitchen and in our cars, my dad keeps one in his beltpack, and I always have one at school. As for inspiration, I just look around me. I love to draw cute animals and practice writing my name in cool fonts. I think using silver Sharpie on things makes them look very professional, especially with monograms; it looks like I took it to a company. I love Sha

s, I am suddenly gifted with massive amounts of creativity. They help me stay up for days in a row to work on projects, much like Kerouac with his amphetamines. They bring strange and surreal images to my head, like Lewis Carroll with his LSD trips. Sharpie is indeed the food of the soul.

Personally, I find my inspiration from my favorite animals, local (web) artists, music and inatimate objects. I'll give you examples of all three to help you get some ideas;

::Animals::

Goldfish, octopie, duogongs (manatees), bees...

::Local (Web) Artists::

I'm going to post one or two in the source, but deviantart.com is a great place to find inspiration!

::Music::

I have no clue what music you listen to, but here are some bands that make me want to draw;

MUSE, Tori Amos, Depeche Mode, Leaves' Eyes...

::Objects::

Balloons, spaceships, crayons, astronauts...

So get to know yourself better through those four things; I draw all sorts of stuff during school, and become quite proud of them.

Since my job is building constructioneer, I have to draw on wood, all of the steps, where the wood goes, etc. I put different colors on the wood blue= left red= right and green= up and yellow= down. Than we draw the colors in order from the larger line to shorter. The colors are in lines along the sides of the wood or brick we use. The line is always shorter or larger. Never the same size.

from the bright colors i see all around me

sharpie markers can represent these bold contrasts in color perfectly

from that and the graffiti i have grown up seeing all around me in the city

these images and ideas together make my variety of bold sharpie colors helps me to create things that colored pencils, paints, and other wanna be markers can't quite capture. (and they are more affordable than the prismacolors)

If you're not "feeling" creative at the moment or just don't know what design you want (or on what surface), doodle with pencil and paper or whatever your favorite way of expressing your ideas). Look around you. Anything spark an interest? Go for a walk and take in the sights. Anything spark your creativity there? I find a walk is a good way to clear my mind so I can unleash my creativity. Maybe your favorite tunes will spark something. Go somewhere busy and people watch. All around you are opportunities that can open help you tap into your creativity. It's always there. Sometimes it's just hibernating, and you have to wake it up and set it free to wander. Look for the inspiration you need. It's all around. Have fun creating! :o)

it is not the sharpies that should inspire you, it is your mind. Your emotions play a big role in what you create. You have to observe your surroundings and then close your eyes and think about how you feel and what you see in the back of your mind. Sharpies might not be the only thing that you might want to use but other tools as well , maybe paint or some out of ordinary objects

Well, this is an age old secret that dates back to Aztec times. First you buy a Sharpie. Uncap it. Then call this number:257•998•3216. A man named Frank will answer giving you propper instructions to correctly shov th writing/drawing utensil up your nose and take a huge wiff. If done exatly as Frank instructs you should have a ****load of creativity uncapped.

Sharpies are great for everyone. You literally just 'uncap' the marker and let your imagination take over what you are drawing. Sharpies are brilliant for this stuff because it takes a lot of effort to erase the marks. I usually go through about 3 Packets of Sharpies a year!

The last one I did was of George Washington, i turned him into a devil. Its great how I'm able to color out all that I don't want and leave the parts I do.

Also Sharpies make waiting at the bus stop fun. I like to tag every part of the stop, and I don't stop there once I get onto the bus I tag the windows, chairs, and panels.

I once also tied down my little brother and drew things on his face, like a mustache and beard.

One time my friend passed out on the couch from drinking heavily, and we decided it would be funny to scribble on his face. Of course we used Sharpies because they're the hardest to wash off the face. He had a job interview the next day, and was unable to remove the marks on his face in time. As a man with a beard, I have found that a Sharpie marker is perfect for creating a template on my face so I know where not to shave when I start growing a beard. Sure, it looks a little strange to have the outline of a beard in marker on my face for a couple of weeks, but once it grows in I can be assured that the lines are sharp and symmetrical.

Ugh, I hate shameless advertising. When I'm feeling creative I don't think "Sharpie!" I only own one Sharpie pen, and all it's used for is CD labeling. Which, interestingly, I can do just as well with the permanent fine-tip marker I got at my local dollarama. Know what I do when I'm feeling creative? I bake. I put on some makeup and play with the colours. I sit down and play my piano. I think of a fun game to play with my kids. I paint something or work on a craft. I do other stuff that doesn't involve branding.

Nice try though. ; ) I hope my answer's been informative.

My inspiration pops out of nowhere. With markers, just seeing all the possible colors I can use to draw/color with gets me into the drawing mood... and I just doodle. But then, that doodle turns into a picture I'd save in my art gallery rather than in scraps! XD And it's not just the ink of the marker you can use for art fun. If the marker runs out of ink, you can color over the plastic, cut it, or do whatever, and create something with it.... for example.... a colorful, sharpie cap, necklace or something.... even a belt.! X3 Use your imagination! There should never be a limit to it! <( ' w ' )/

Well when i was in spanish in 7th grade my teacher had a Large replica of the Don Quihote painting. It looked like sharpie art so i pulled out my own sharpie and a lined piece of paper and began to draw. By the end of the period i had a perfect replica of it on my paper. My teacher came to my desk and when he saw it he asked if he could have it and i gave it to him. He still has it today. I'm currently in 12th grade.

Every time they come out with a new one I buy two.I love sharpies.I use them on just about everything.I have a large desk pad by both my phones,and several jars of various sharpies there,so I can doodle while I'm on the phone.I've decorated back packs for my friends kids,and they like doing their own as well.I have several pull down old vinyl shades in my "office" and every time someone comes in here they are permitted to add to the ongoing design if they choose.I also use them in the kitchen on zip locs to label stuff for the freezer.It's easier to read.

Usually I get bored, mad, sad, happy etc. and start drawing something and by the time I am done it is usually something completely different than what it was originally supposed to be. I have many Sharpie markers, which I love, including a wide selection of colors, types, and sizes. I do not think I could live without my Sharpies!

I am as about as inartistic as a person can become.

However, this kid came over to visit a couple of weeks ago, and with a Black Sharpie, he drew the most amazing tat on his left arm I have ever seen.

I am not a big fan of tat's, but if I had the money I would have hired him.

I find that if I smell enough Sharpies, I am suddenly gifted with massive amounts of creativity. They help me stay up for days in a row to work on projects, much like Kerouac with his amphetamines. They bring strange and surreal images to my head, like Lewis Carroll with his LSD trips. Sharpie is indeed the food of the soul.

I love Sharpie markers because they allow me to use my artistic skills anywhere I want. I love Sharpies!

Since im painting my room in the spring my parents are finely letting me draw on my walls and it s SO cool!!! On one wall ive got a huge shark with all this kinda chaotic stuff around it and on the other side is a koi and its got pretty peaceful stuff around it and at the middle of the wall they kinda crash together. ive probably used over 200 sharpies to get just as much of it done as i do and it only goes up half the wall!!! Good thing the wall is small and kinda goes down with the roof on that side. i bet i can convince my parents to let me keep that wall though, otherwise i wouldn't do it

I USE SHARPIES A LOT!!!!!!!!!!

I am a seventh grade student.

OK. This is simple but worthy of Martha Stewart herself.

Instead of cheesy wrapping paper, I wrap Christmas packages in plain brown shipping paper. Instead of a ribbon, I tie rope or hemp around the package. Then write the recipient's name with black sharpie. (I give it a shaded effect with a silver sharpie.) It sounds tacky but it looks really classy.

Everyone should own a silver Sharpie marker!! Invaluable for writing on dark stuff!!

When refinishing furniture, I find the Black ones make the most marvelous black stain for legs and knobs. It gives a nice Ebony stain and lets the wood grain show through. Afterwards coat the sharpie with poly or varnish to give it a very shiny finish.

I use Sharpies for utility purposes... they're permanent markers and that's what I use them for... all my permanent marking needs. Markers DO NOT inspire me for art. In fact, when I was a teacher, I discouraged the use of markers for art. They are just so.. well, permanent. Crayons and pastels can be changed by the amount of pressure you apply. Paint can be mixed and changed with different brushes and brush strokes. Markers are... well, just markers.

Markers are good for labels and poster lettering... not art, creativity, or inspiration.

check out a book called Visualizing Ideas:From Scribbles to Storyboards, takes you right from buying the right pen through to how to use it to get the effect your looking for. Really great book for people who want to be creative but dont know where to start lol!

Drawing really isnt as difficult as you think, its a frame of mind its not a skill as such, so dont be disheartened if your not great your first try, practice makes perfect, learn from what you do well and what doesnt work.

It says about copic pens in the book, but it doesnt have to be that brand sharpie pens would be fine, or any brush tip pens or markers, just not the cheap "bumper bag" of felt tips kind of pens that kids use lol.

Good luck and have fun!

i would use sharpie more if it didn't stink so bad. they give me such a headache and now that i'm pregnant its worse than ever. i'm using the fine point one to write on some plaques and its almost too much for me.

I love Sharpie markers because they actually stay on many different surfaces.

Normally when i use Sharpie markers for art, i use it on Shrinky Dinks. They are those pieces of plastic that shrink in heat and they are awesome. The ones i have are only decorated by sharpie markers because they are permanent and don't fade away in heat unlike most other markers. I express my art in these shrinky dinks because every year in Christmas, i always draw Christmas Trees in the Plastic and cut them out. Then i heat them up and they becomee little ornaments for my trees and sometimes, i might give them to my friends.

Sharpie markers are the BEST markers for coloring on plastic because they actually stay on plastic surfaces unlike regular ones.

When the end of the school year comes, i bring like 10 different color sharpie markers and have people sign my Yearbook with the colors they choose. Other times, i sign other people's shirts too!

Sometimes, i use them to decorate my Nintendo DS

Sharpie markers are the best Markers in the WORLD if they can only make it light enough so that it won't leak through weak paper.

True story: I was standing with a friend by a railing at Yankee Stadium where the ballplayers enter the stadium about two hours before the start of the game. We saw a few Yankees when a hall of fame player made his appearance and started to walk into the stadium. A guy next to me who was sitting in a wheelchair stuck out a baseball bat for the hall of fame player to sign. Seeing the guy in a wheelchair the hall of famer too the bat and also took a sharpie marker the wheelchair bound fan handed to him. The ballplayer signed the bat with the Sharpie and then walked into the stadium. The guy in the wheelboard rolled a few feet then stood up and tucked the wheelchair underneath his arm. With the bat, his Sharpie, and his wheelchair he left.

I love to recreate my boring science, english and math binders with excessive amounts of random doodling. especially when i am bored. I also love to outline fashion designs with a thin black sharpie. My favourite sharpie colour would be black because it showes up the best on my colourful binders:)

Nobody draws with sharpies, sorry. They bleed and they are unerasable, and they make thick dark lines which makes it impossible to shade. I dont even know what I use them for.. underlining important notes sometimes if I can't find a highlighter? They're really not the best artistically and work-wise.

Sharpies are the best.

There bright, colorful and fun.

They make me smile and never frown

There's so much that can be done.

From using them on your skin

To quotes amongst your wall

Sharpies help with creativity

Sharpies do it all

You can write on shoes

Make designs

And things that are unique

Just spend some time doodle-n with them

And it all will come out neat

Just think original and don't be scared

to go beyond your limits

Just take a sharpie get to thinking

And hell' just jump on in it

i pretty much just put a pen/pencil/marker..ect in my hand and clear my mind and draw whatever. whenever i try to draw things they look bad but went i clear my head and just let myself do whatever the drawing always comes out good (ik thats weird)

i love drawing hearts, stars, flowers, moons, suns, curvy lines, and polka dots of things too.

sometimes i just take a random thing and make it my own, like adding wings to a heart, or a smile to a flower.

thats just me .. im a pretty random person and thats just how i roll

i draw on my family pet. Obviously you're thinking: 'what? but how? does pen really work on fur?', well no, it doesn't. So i shaved my dog then started penning him. I drew a massive penis on him because pennes (yes, that IS the plural for penis) are always funny. i also drew a big bear on him eating a small child. Red sharpies are just GREAT! for blood spurts.
2009-12-10 14:51:22 UTC
You just start drawing. Be creative. The markers don't make you creative, you make the markers creative. The markers are conduit; you are the one whose actually creating.

If that's not enough, try another medium of artistic expression. There's many of them, including sculpture, painting, photography.........

I use a document reader. Students can see me write out ideas, notes, charts. I keep a bucket of many colors next to me as I write and draw. Notes that use color to highlight are easy to follow.

The ideas are easy to explain when something stands out.

Sometimes, when I see that Sharpie logo, I go absolutely crazy with creativity. I draw on my hand, my pants, my friends, most commonly my hair, or other people's hair. Sharpie is an excellent way to die hair, because it comes out super easy. There are a million different colors, and it is so hard to just find one to use. So to create my own little sharpie masterpiece, I lay out all of my sharpies of the table, grab a piece of paper, and just randomly start grabbing markers and scribbling all over the page. So fun......

When I am not doodling all over the place, I am using my sharpies to personalize things, and mark school supplies, suitcases, etc, with my name so they won't get lost. There are probably a gazillion ways to use sharpies, so it is hard to just name a few in this little answer to your not-very-precise question. My one word answer to your question would be everything around you, absolutely everything. sometimes, even that annoying pollen will cause me to break out my yellow sharpie and draw dots everywhere.

I write on my hand to remind myself or take note of things too.

Thanks Sharpie!!!

Personally, I find my inspiration from my favorite animals, local (web) artists, music and inatimate objects. I'll give you examples of all three to help you get some ideas;

::Animals::

Goldfish, octopie, duogongs (manatees), bees...

::Local (Web) Artists::

I'm going to post one or two in the source, but deviantart.com is a great place to find inspiration!

::Music::

I have no clue what music you listen to, but here are some bands that make me want to draw;

MUSE, Tori Amos, Depeche Mode, Leaves' Eyes...

::Objects::

Balloons, spaceships, crayons, astronauts...

So get to know yourself better through those four things; I draw all sorts of stuff during school, and become quite proud of them.

i don't need to uncap the sharpie to express creativity. creativity is an inborn trait that overflows its amorphous confines rather than waits to be uncapped. in fact, creativity is intangible, in some ways invisible, concept. creativity in itself is a conception of itself
