How do I draw a proper perspective grid so I can draw all kinds of diiferent shapes from any angle?

This is what I have right now but I don't like what it looks like so I'm about to start it over.

Start with the vertical line "nearest" the viewer, the bottom of that line has two lines going from it to the horizon, where they meet the horizon are your vanishing points; from the top of that line the two lines coming off should also meet the horizon at the SAME vanishing points.



Then draw in the two other vertical lines, they stop where they cross the lines going to the vanishing points.



For variety, experiment with making the nearest vertical cross the horizon line so the top lines slope downwards.
