How to draw anime/manga-style female nipples?
In anime/manga/visual novels, girls' nipples appear to be a little concave in the center. Something like this:

This is weird because that doesn't seem true in real life. I've never seen any female nipple that's that concave.
Sorry for the disturbing images.

Link doesn't work.

But I would venture to guess it's because the Japanese have different ways of viewing things. When we see anime/manga eyes we're like "DAMN! THOSE EYELASHES ARE MASSIVE!" But the thick line around their eyes is not meant to indicate size of eyelashed - it is meant to show the depth of the eye socket - you can see this in extreme angles in anime and manga.

What you're seeing is likely either a specific fetish or a misunderstanding of the art.

Real life is one thing – manga and anime is another, there is a general trend in cartoons (not just Japanese) to exaggerate some features, and sometimes those exaggerations are adopted by another artist and another and another until the gross misrepresentation becomes an accepted shorthand. For example the extreme length of legs and small heads in superheroes.

Basically everything everyone has said here about manga and anime are spot on. I just want to add that inverted nipples do exist in real life and are pretty common, just do a search on inverted nipples.

Yes, absolutely dead on.
