Question:
I'm looking for a manga artist to work?
?
I've written 13 issues of a manga that I need an artist to illustrate. I don't have the money to pay but would (of course) split any money made. I know generally artist don't work for free but from what I understand they don't mind if they like the story enough. Here is a synopsis of the story:

Set on the fictional planet of Node, the story follows two teenage brothers and their journey. The story is split into two. The first following the the brothers fighting along side each other in a war to avenge their mother, who was executed by the enemy military. The second half set years later where the brothers are now on opposing sides of a war. The story is centred around the brothers and how they grow up and change. It's very much a character driven story.

If you're at all interested please email me at: s33.1@hotmail.com and I can give more information on the story.

Also, what are other good websites to find a manga artist?

They don't mind huh? You must have so little respect for artists. In the time it took for you to write 13 issues of a manga, an artist might finish half of a graphic issue. And you're expecting someone to work 20 times harder than you for free?

Sorry to break it to you, there are lots of "writers" coming on here with "great stories" looking for artists to do free work. No appreciation for the hard work and long hours.

The best website to find a manga artist would probably be Deviantart.com

You'll probably need to go around in the forums and ask about people willing to work on a project but don't expect anyone but a few amatures to be interested. You'll need funding for a professional finish. Thd idea of 'potential' income from a project isn't very interesting to most artists. Yeah- the idea of maybe making money from the publishing is okay for a writer that can do work in there spare time, but for an artist...the work takes more than spare time to complete.

I'd keep working on it...asking around...getting people interested- you'll evetually get a few hits...but don't expect professional grade authors to work with you unless pro-grade income is involved. That being said- Deviantart.com is still a great place to start looking. (This is a good place too- but deviantart is better because you can see everyone art right way, no email sharing needed. ^_^)

Good luck.

I don't know where you heard that, but no artist with any skill is going to work on spec regardless of what they think of the story. A single page is hours of work, 13 issues will take months to complete. That's not a commitment anyone, even a desperate amateur, is going to make without incentive.

If you truly believe in this project, then find the money to pay an artist fairly. If you can get a single issue completed, you can shop it around to publishers or see about promoting it yourself online. Otherwise, maybe think about reworking your story as a novel instead.
