I want to order a print of my boyfriend and I to draw. I'll need it to make reference to while I draw it... It'll be a grid drawing.. (For those of you who don't know what that is, I will be drawing a grid on the print I order...)

I'm just not sure which is better or what they're even used for Glossy or Matte?
I don't want to lose the details of the photo.

glossy.

you know how matte gets those little squiggle marks all over? that could mottle the details.

for safe measure, print out a copy or two on plain printer paper. i would think that drawing your grid on a glossy photo is going to be somewhat difficult. i recommend using a mechanical pencil.

grid drawings are great! hope you have fun with it. :)

Short answer is. Glossy shows fingerprints. Matte does not as fast. Long answer, Glossy keeps the white and the black in the image crisp. Gloss is what I print on most of the time when I am printing for MY wall. Use to do Gloss only when for print as well, now send a digital file. Matte papers, a lot of choices in both how much texture and the base color of the paper and even some of the tone in the "black and white" papers.I have used monochrome papers that had blue, red and a nice cream base to them. Matte Color paper is only the texture and the base on all I have used has been a very clean white. Hope that helps

I'm not sure it matters for what you plan on using this photo for. Perhaps if you ordered the matte finish, it will "grab" whatever you use to draw the grid with (pen, marker, etc). It will less likely smear on a matte surface. Good luck. Hope this helped.
